OK… so, ever since Chappelle went away, Comedy Central has been trying
to find something to fill the 11:30 PM slot after The Daily Show. The
latest, which has been bumped to midnight by the /previous/ Daily
Show, is Too Late with Adam Carolla. Today, he had Steve O, famous for
Jackass and Wild Boys. Well, they had him get really, really drunk, and
he just destroyed the show. Apparently, Adam had to call in security to
get him restrained during the commercial break. Oops.
What was telling was the lack of laughter from the live studio
audience… total train wreck.
You know, The Man Show with Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla was great. But
both solo shows suck. Maybe they can put them back
together again and get them to having fun versus stretching out on
things that is not quite working.
OK, end random gripe.
Well the lack of laughter from the studio audidence you described is because..there IS no audience! They got rid of the studio audidence a while ago on the show. The 2-3 people you could hear at times were from the crew. I thought it was great tv.
Whaddaya mean a while ago? The show has only been on for like 3 weeks now!
That being said, you sure about that? I seem to recall seeing them as he comes in… but perhaps they’re not there anymore.
I still think Carolla needs someone to bounce things off… he was great as the wisecracking foil to Jimmy Kimmel, and the same goes for LoveLine with whats-his-face, but I don’t think he has enough on his own.
Maybe some of the Tough Crowd guys need jobs between their roasts…

Carolla is brilliant on loveline with dr. drew yeah, and I think “too late” shows SOME of that brilliance from time to time, but it’s not quite..there yet. Kimmel was on “too late” recently by the way, that was a great one.
