They do some seawater cultivating there too from what I understand, but it shouldn't be that much. If I recall, I purchased some seawater pearls the last time I was there... 18" strand, I think 6-7mm, for like 1800 or 2000 RMB. One strand was white, another was black. Normally, you'll get a 18" strand --- the price for that was 2400, then I asked for 21" strands and they just calculated the price per pearl and scaled it up. You'll need to negotiate fairly hard... the starting price for one necklace was I want to say 1800, but they came down to 1600 fairly quickly, but past that it was tough.
