We’re here in Mt. Shasta. We’re staying at the Best Western Tree House Inn. It’s nice, just a bit lodgey. But the folks there are very nice. They gave us the AAA discount (so $90 a night vs $100), 15% off dinner, a free drink, & free continental breakfast for MK and I the next morning. Sweet! Also, the rooms have doors into the motel hallway as well as outside, so we got a bottom room, pulled the car around, and spent next to no time unloading.

Dinner was nice… I had some almond-crusted rainbow trout that was very yummy, and some Mt. Shasta beer, also yummy. We all crashed early after watching the Sonics beat Sac. Comfy king size bed…. Yay!

Ok… so, we thought that driving down would be a good idea. Well, that was until we realized that Laura wasn’t actually going to sleep most of the way. Nope, she’s going to be awake, and rather cranky, because she’s strapped down in a car seat.

This isn’t good.

OK, it’s 9:30 on Sunday, and we’re a day late getting out. But that’s OK. We have a week, and a less stressful packing day is better than rushing around trying to get out at 10:00 AM when we haven’t packed the day before.

My cousin Alisa is getting married in South Lake Tahoe, so Mary Kaye, Laura, and I are driving down for a week. It’s about a 14 hour trip, so we’re going to truck out the first day to Mt. Shasta (about 500 miles), and then another 300 miles to South Lake Tahoe. Should be a fun trip, and let us all have some time away from everything at 6200 feet!
